How It Works:

The dental implant placement and restoration process

Placement

Once you’ve been approved for treatment, your doctor will schedule your oral surgery appointment and provide a surgical plan. During the surgery, your dentist in Florham Park will make an incision in your gum tissue to securely place a dental implant in the jaw. Next, the area will be cleaned and sutures will be placed to begin the healing process.

Healing & Osseointegration

Your gums and jawbone will begin to heal once your implant has been placed. After 1-2 weeks, the incision site will be healed, but it will take 3-6 months for the implant to permanently bond with your jaw bone through a process called osseointegration. To ensure you are healing properly, we will see you for a couple of check ups during the osseointegration process.

Applying The Restoration

The final step in the implant treatment process is the restoration. Your restoration, or prosthetic dental crown, will be custom crafted to match your smile and securely affixed to the titanium implant. Once your new tooth is in place, your smile will be complete!

"I'm so happy I recently found Florham Park Smile Lounge. It was simple to schedule an appointment. All the staff were so friendly and welcoming. The office was clean and there was plenty of parking. As someone who gets nervous when I go to the dentist, Dr. Khan and Dr. Uddin made it a calm and relaxing experience for me thanks to how they took the time to reassure me and to explain what I needed. They were so knowledgeable and gentle. I never felt so comfortable at the dentist before! They didn't rush me through anything and were happy to answer my long list of questions. You can't go wrong with Florham Park Smile Lounge for your dental needs."

"I’ve been going here for years and they are all very professional. It can be really hard to go to the dentist for some people and this group does everything they can to make you comfortable and be accommodating. Kelly does amazing work. I moved further away and I still drive all the way to this place because they are so good."

Michael S.

"Dr. Khan gave me novocaine & while normally I would panic & have anxiety.. I actually ended up asking her if the needle was even in. Normally I would request laughing gas, but I was so calm upon sitting with her that it was not necessary. She was so gentle & helped me with breathing to calm down & I truly didn’t feel the needles at all.. On top of that the procedure she performed was quick & gentle. I couldn’t believe how light her hand was with the needle, I was shocked how little I felt & even asked for another needle to reverse the numbing at the end. She is very personable and I felt comfortable asking questions and taking time. Elizabeth is also an angel & held my hand the entire time. What better way to end with a warm lavender towel as well.. they are really making this place homey & welcoming. The office manager Gina also always accommodates my schedule and makes a stress free experience for me.The best of the best! I have recommended over 10 people here since my recent experiences!! :) Ask them about the whitening trays! They did not disappoint!!"

"Everyone at Cedar Avenue Family Dentistry is phenomenal. Debra's very professional and courteous at the front desk. Maddie is a fantastic assistant. She took me right back and made sure to explain everything to me. Dr. Chittenden took the time to answer all my questions and is a very careful dentist. My visit was quick and pain free! I had a crown placed and I was out the door in 15 minutes. Highly recommend this practice"

C.J. Bigsby

"The moment I walked through the door I could tell I was in the right place. (I’ve had 38 years in dentistry myself and retired 3 years ago). Cedar Avenue Family Dentistry showed empathy, professionalism and concern about what I wanted from them!!! My concerns were their PRIMARY focus and they spent extra time getting to know me! Extra gentle and extra caring. Wonderful staff. Easy everything! Wonderful experience and I will definitely encourage everyone I know to give them a chance because they’ll not disappoint!"

Laura Baumgartner

"Cedar Avenue Family Dentistry is Amazing. When looking at the business name, many people see Dentistry. However, after you have been seen and cared for, another word starts to show...the word FAMILY. The staff is compassionate and loving and will take care of you. I highly recommend Cedar Avenue Family Dentistry."

MEET THE DentistS

DR. Imran Uddin

Dr. Uddin was born in Queens, NY but moved to Edison, NJ at a young age. Over time, he developed an interest in the health sciences. It wasn't until midway through college that he would develop an interest in dentistry. What drew Dr. Uddin to this profession was the fusion of health and art, the ability to help others, and being able to make a positive change in his patients’ lives.

Dr. Uddin received his undergraduate degree from Rutgers University and received his DMD degree from Rutgers School of Dental Medicine. He then went on to complete his General Practice Residency at Monmouth Medical Center. After finishing dental school, residency, and working in private practice for a few years, he realized that he wanted to have a practice of his own where he could treat patients and make decisions based on his own philosophy.

DR. Taliah Khan

As the daughter of a dentist, dentistry has always been in Dr. Khan’s life. She was born in Livingston, NJ, and grew up in Plainsboro, NJ. During her early years, she used to accompany her mom to work, making the dental office her daycare. (Ask to see the photos of her as a baby in the dental chair!) During high school, Dr. Khan took a summer job working at the dental office and knew this was where she belonged. It was then that she came to appreciate the cross-section of fine art and science. From there, dentistry quickly became her passion.

Dr. Khan attended The College of New Jersey where she received her BS in biology. At Temple University Kornberg School of Dentistry, Dr. Khan met Dr. Uddin and received her DMD degree. She then went on to complete her General Practice Residency at Monmouth Medical Center.

Have Questions About Invisalign?

Find Answers Here

If you have minor or moderate orthodontic issues, you are likely a good candidate for treatment with Invisalign. So long as your mouth is free of any oral health issues like gum disease or tooth decay, you will probably be eligible to proceed with treatment. However, Invisalign is not for everyone. Severe orthodontic issues may not be able to be addressed with Invisalign. In these cases, we usually recommend treatment with traditional metal or ceramic braces as they can provide more powerful results. To find out about your options for orthodontic treatment, schedule your consultation today!

While Invisalign trays look very similar to night guards and mouthguards, we do not recommend that you use Invisalign as a nightguard. The clear plastic trays are designed to gently shift your teeth, not protect them. If you grind your teeth at night, we may recommend that you get a night guard to protect your teeth and go with traditional braces instead of Invisalign. If you wear your aligners at night and notice that they are becoming cracked or worn down, this may be a sign that you are grinding your teeth at night. This will affect your treatment so be sure to let your doctor know right away if you think you might be grinding your teeth.

The cost of treatment with Invisalign is usually comparable to the cost of traditional braces. Every case is different, though, so it’s important to discuss your budget with your doctor. During your consultation, your doctor will consider multiple factors including your needs, your lifestyle, and your budget before helping you decide which treatment to proceed with.

Invisalign aligners are nearly impossible to see when wearing them. This is because they are made out of clear plastic and are perfectly fit to your smile. Your trays will be custom-made trimmed to fit to your gum line for a more seamless look. Plus there are no metal brackets or wires, so you can feel confident in your smile throughout treatment. However, if you eat or drink with your aligners in, they could become stained, making them more visible.

These clear aligners are designed onto a mold of your teeth. A lab technician will apply layers of a photo-sensitive liquid resin to this custom mold. Next, the technician will expose this resin to a laser, curing it into a hard, yet flexible, thermoplastic. This plastic is called SmartTrack®, and it was created exclusively for Invisalign treatment. It’s FDA-approved and contains no BPA, BPS, latex, or gluten.
